On My List

A Breather

Last night we had a fabulous event for a great group of people.
Great food, decor, friends, and one very, well....interesting kitchen.
Today my feet are still aching, but all I have are happy memories of a job well done.
The quietness of the house today was welcome, and I'm enjoying the last day or
so until we leave on a jet plane for sunny CA.
I hope all of you are finding small moments of quiet and peace
during this wonderful, yet crazy, season.

For photos of our event, be sure to check them out here!

I've finally done it!

I've always played it safe when it comes to my hair.

Normal color, normal cut, nothing too edgy - played it safe.

And yet...every time I go in for my normal cut I flirt with the possibility of doing something different.

Yesterday I decided to get a grip and go for it.

Sure, we all know that Zooey Deschanel can pull them off fabulously. Sure, my sister can swing a rockin' side bang. But me? I've always wanted them, and always been too cautious to go through with it.
Surprisingly enough - I absolutely LOVE them.
Bangs are fun! And sassy!
Hooray for growing up and getting a grip.

Fab gift guides from Design Sponge - I love love love.

I've been pining for wellingtons for years now...check out these colors! Um, one pair in each color, please?! As far as the rest - I'd like one of each, a-thank you.

In preparation for our Parisian Summer adventure, I am feeling particularly drawn to these beauties.

What are some of your favorite gift guides?

Here are a few old school shipping tags that I dressed up to make our Christmas packages a bit more shnazzy. I thought I'd share them with y'all - You can print them out on Cardstock or label paper...or use them in digital design. Have fun!

Here we come a-wassailing

December 8, 2010
So now that MR is through with this quarter, it's really starting to feel like Christmas. Having my guy around makes everything better, and even things like addressing Christmas cards is more fun.

Our tree is up, the first present has been wrapped, and we are still living in a winter wonderland.

Yes, Bach is our tree topper.

Next on the list:
  • Buy the annual jug of eggnog to see if I like it this year, and inevitably realize that I still detest it.
  •  Make my Christmas list and get the rest of the family to do the same!
  • Christmas shopping with the husband
  • Start packing our bags for CA and getting the house winter-proofed for while we are away.
I hope you all are enjoying this wonderful season!

with love,
a happy christmastime girl

The end of the very beginning

December 7, 2010

Today marks the end of MR's first quarter at EWU - his first round of Graduate classes, his first time teaching a class of his own, his first foray into Bus travel on a daily basis. I could tell you all about how his professors love him, how his students love him (like, really...they're in love), or how he aced literally every paper, test, and midterm (I'm not kidding; they're on the fridge) - but I won't blather on about that.

I just want to say how proud I am of him - I married a truly brilliant man who loves me and continues to make life such a joy.
