I need your help!

March 31, 2010
So as all of you may have noticed, most of my personal photos look like a toddler got a hold of a camera and went to town. My camera used to be a good one...but over the years has been dropped one-too-many times. And then there were all those trips to the beach...yeah, okay maybe I wasn't the best camera-owner. But times are a-changing - and I'm finally in the market for a serious upgrade.

Now this is where I get a bit lost...so many choices, so many features, lenses, accessories. I've decided I want to go with either a Canon or Nikon, but I'm still doing my research on which models would be best for me.

What camera do you use, and what do you like about it?

  1. Hi again! I asked our wedding photographer this very question a couple months ago and she recommended the Canon xsi or Canon T1i. They're both "entry level" dslr's. The main difference between the 2 is that the T1i shoots HD video. That being said, I bought the T1i and I LOVE IT. It's easy and fun to use. I'm saving up for a new lens: the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 which is awesome for shooting in low light and really captures the image as your eyes see it. I don't know much about Nikon cameras, as I've always had more experience with Canons. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either brand. I've even read that you can get away with a relatively "cheap-o" camera body but your lenses are really key. I also like to read the ratings and reviews on cnet.com and amazon to see what other people recommend too. Hope that helps!

  2. we got the canon xsi. she & i are now BFF!

yes, i like to think of her (camera) as a best friend. got a GREAT deal on her thru amazon right before christmas. bought an extra lens as well. one of the best things i ever did buy!
